PSA Airlines, a regional carrier owned by American , is offering bonuses totaling $250,000 for UPS and FedEx pilots who can come work as captains and help fill a gap that has forced PSA to keep planes grounded and curtail service to some cities.

FedEx is encouraging its pilots to apply for a job with PSA Airlines, a unit of American Airlines. The move came on the back of a decline in air cargo demand. FedEx employs around 5,800 pilots globally, while PSA Airlines has about 1,900 pilots. Interested FedEx pilots are eligible for an expedited interview process for a captain's position with PSA Airlines, according to the latter's online recruitment page. PSA Airlines is also offering FedEx pilots $250,000 in sign-on bonuses.

Frontier Airlines was the most likely of the 15 largest US carriers to bump people from flights in early 2023. A further 3,395 were voluntarily denied boarding and 2,442 were involuntarily denied boarding. The data covers domestic US flights and international flights that departed from the US, and doesn't include passengers who were involuntarily denied boarding for other reasons.
